Tyler is Here!

Sorry it has taken me a few days to post this. We've been a little busy. Tyler Oneil Price was born Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 5:29 pm. He weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. It was a rough time but I made it through. We went to the hospital at 6am and they started the pitocin by 7:00. My doctor came and broke my water at 7:40 and I started really feeling the contractions by 8:00 and by 9:30 I decided I needed the epidural. I was fully dilated by the time they checked me @ 1:45. Tyler was still pretty high up so I went for another hour having contractions to see if he would drop. At 2:45 the nurse decided that it was time for me to start pushing. I pushed for 2 1/2 hours and she told me that I would probably have to have a cesarean because after 2 hours his head should be right there. My doctor got there at a little after 5:00 and had me push one time. She said that if she used the vacuum she thought we could get him out. Sure enough it worked! The only problem was that his arm came out with his head so I had some tearing. Other than that all was well.
It's such an amazing experience to bring a child into this world. We love our little boy so much. Sometimes I just look at him and don't ever want to put him down. On the other hand, I would like to get a little sleep.
How modest - they even covered him up for his pictures.
I don't know if you can tell, but he has huge feet. :)

What a happy little familyGetting ready to come home. What a cute little boy!
This little boy sleeps ALL DAY. I have a hard time waking him up to eat.
Such a precious little boy. It's amazing to think that five days ago he was inside me. I'm so happy that he has finally joined our family.

The Countdown Begins

This past week has been quite an interesting one. Last Monday afternoon I started getting a ringing in my ear and within an hour I couldn't hear out of it at all. I went to my primary doctor and he gave me an antibiotic because he told me there was some redness in my right ear and a little pressure in the other one. My OB/GYN told me it was ok for me to take it but it didn't seem to do anything. Then on Thursday I ended up going to urgent care because I was really dizzy and felt kind of sick to my stomach. They told me I needed to be taking a decongestant to get my eustachian tubes to drain. I was told that I could take regular Sudafed, but that didn't do anything either. So, now I can't hear out of my left ear except for this horrible ringing. It is so annoying!!!

I had an appointment last Wednesday and my doctor checked my cervix again. I was dilated 3 cm and 80% effaced. She said she wanted to see me back this Tuesday and if I had progressed she would probably have me deliver since Tyler is so big. I was taken off bedrest so we started walking around our apartment complex a little bit. It has been so stinking hot here the past week that I have been swelling like crazy so I have to come home and lay down and put my feet up. Anyway, the last couple of days I started thinking that I probably haven't progressed so I'll probably have to end up waiting. I went to my appointment and sure enough - no change. I am scheduled to be induced next Tuesday morning at 6am. So it looks like I'll be spending my birthday in the hospital. HOW EXCITING!!! I just have to keep reminding myself that it will all be worth it. I'm sure this is going to be the longest week of my life!

36 Weeks

I would like to start by wishing all of you moms out there a Happy Mothers' Day!
We've finally made it to the final month! I went back to the doctor on Thursday and I was 80% effaced and dilated 2-3 cm. I'm still stuck at home until my next appointment when she told me that I would be released from bed rest. She did another ultrasound and Tyler is still a couple of weeks ahead of schedule. His estimated weight was 6 pounds 9 ounces. When she did the ultrasound she said the maximum time will probably be two weeks since he's so big. She said he was a tall baby...obviously he doesn't get that from his mother. We want him to wait at least another week or more though because she said that boys tend to have breathing problems or difficulties feeding when they're early. I really hope we don't have to worry about that. We just want him to be a perfectly healthy baby boy. I'm sure it will all be fine. I'm just starting to get more and more nervous for the actually delivery now because it seems so close.
Here's my lovely photo from today:

Tyler Update

Tyler may be here sooner than we expected. Mom is really uncomfortable now. She went to the doctor yesterday because she was having a lot of contractions. She checked her cervix and she is already dilated to 1 cm. The doctor said she doesn't want the baby to be born before 36 weeks so Kelly is now on bed rest again. The doctor said she has to lie down for the rest of the time. We will go back next Thursday for another ultrasound to see how big Tyler is getting and how things are going. She also gave Kelly a prescription to take in case she has more than ten contractions in one hour. They're supposed to slow them down but hopefully she won't have to take any of them because they can cause heart palpitations. Dad is torn right now. I'm really excited yet worried at the same time. I wonder how life will be when Tyler finally arrives - will I be a good dad, will I be able to set a good example for Tyler? I'm sure all dads feel the same way as I do to some degree. I can't wait!

Our Little Linebacker

So it looks like we're going to have ourselves a big boy.
We went to the doctor on Tuesday and had an ultrasound done. She said that Tyler was measuring at 36 weeks and his approximate weight was already 5 pounds 6 ounces. That's bigger than Kaylee was when she was born! I go back on May 14th for another ultrasound and she's going to check my cervix. If he gains more than two pounds by then she said that I probably won't be able to deliver him naturally becuase of my size. She also told me that I can start doing some light walking to see if that will help my cervix to thin out. Hopefully his growth will slow down a little bit and he'll come a couple of weeks early. I REALLY don't want to have a ceasarean. I guess I don't really have any control over that. I know that whatever is meant to happen will happen.
Tuesday night Holly and Rebecca threw me a great baby shower. We got SO MUCH STUFF!!! I don't know where we're going to put it all. I got all of his clothes and blankets put in his closet, but he got lots of toys and other stuff too. They're all just sitting in the corner in the living room. Pat was already having fun with all of the little baseballs and toys. I can only imagine how he's going to be when he has a little guy running around that he can throw them at. Thank you to everyone who was able to come. I had a really good time. I just can't believe how quickly time is passing now. It will all be over before we know it.

Only 8 Weeks Left!

Here is my 32 week photo from tonight. I'm getting bigger and more uncomfortable every day. Oh, the joys of pregnancy! It's so weird to think that in less than two months we'll have a little baby boy. In a way 8 weeks seems so close, but at the same time it seems so far away. I know we have A LOT to do before Tyler arrives and we are thankful for the time we still have. This Tuesday is our last childbirth preparation class and then on Wednesday we go take the tour at the hospital where we will pre-register. CRAZY!!!! I am very excited, but I am also very nervous. I'm sure that being parents will somehow come to us once he is here. It's just weird to think about.

We were over at my parents' house tonight and Kaylee was looking especially cute, not that she isn't always. I had to post a couple of pictures of her.

Don't you just LOVE the shoes?!?

She wanted to play with her cousin after dinner. It was so cute...she was just patting my tummy.

Happy Birthday Kaylee!

Today is my niece's FIRST birthday so I dedicate this blog to her. I can't believe that it's already been a year since she was born. It has been so much fun for us to watch her grow and we are very greatful that we can live close by and be together so often. I know that Tyler and Kaylee will have lots of fun playing together. We'll have to wait until she can't beat him up too badly though. (He needs to be able to defend himself!) Here are some pictures of Kaylee throughout the past year:
We love you Kaylee!
